Wowed!
Tonight! E&P, 5pm, (e)ating at Debot and (p)raying in lower Debot afterwards. I hope to see you there!
Tomorrow night (Thursday) there will be a speaker giving a presentation on behalf of the Death Penalty. It's at 7:30pm in the Newman Center, and I am planning to go if anyone would like to join me (afran007@uwsp.edu). Below is an overview of the man who is speaking.
Ray Krone, a Pennsylvania native lived a normal life, a former Boy Scout, a high school athlete, an Air Force Sergeant, and eventually a mail carrier. In 1991 a customer in a bar in Pheonix where Ray was a customer was murdered. Ray, made the mistake of thinking that the legal system would work and prove his innocence and simply used a public defender. He was found guilty and sentanced to death in 1992. In 1994 he was granted a new trial, again found guilty but the judge saw that the evidence was weak so changed his sentance to 46 years in prison. He had spent 2 years and 8 months on death row and wasn't until 2002 that he was cleared due to DNA evidence and released from prison after 10 years and 4 months. Ray now travels the US and Europe talking about the death penalty and working to change the legal system. He has been featured in publications such as People, Parade, USA Today, and the Los Angeles Times and also on Good Morning America. Ray will be speaking at the Newman Center at 7:30 PM Thursday (October 5th) and will be followed by a short talk by No Death Penalty Wisconsin and a Q&A period. We hope this will motivate people to oppose lifting the ban on the death penalty in WI.
