Hey everybody, greetings from Wheaton, Illinois! I have a little while before I have to be on campus for this conference dealie, so I wanted to update you on what's happening with XA...
DEADLINE FOR YOUTH CONVENTION is Sunday night! If you're interested, you must let Lars or myself know by then! Sunday XA, same XA time, same XA place! 7.07, 073 DeBot. See you there, bring a friend!
Speaking of bringing friends...I'm lifting the text from Seth and placing it here:
You’re invited to the 2nd Annual Pumpakin Carve-nival!
It’s BYOP (bring your own pumpakin) carving contest night (big money, big prizes) at Seth’s place on Sunday, October 30th at 7:00. The Death Star decimated all the competition last year and needs some new rivals. Do you has what it takes? Do ya? Stupid? Come at 7:00 for hot apple cider, not cold or even lukewarm cocoa (the other kind), pumpakin pie, baked punkin seeds, and witch’s brew. Weather permitting, we will judge the punkins in the forest next door to my house. Da’ judgin’ of dem der punkins will begin promptly at 9:30. After the Death Star wins again, some prophecy somewhere will be fulfilled with the annual viewing of Bruce Campbell vs. the Army of Darkness (cheesy-scary-comedy) starting at 10:00 and will be over by 11:30. Bring food if you want, but not necessary. Want a needless reiteration of the aforementioned details?
Seth’s place is located at 309 Walker St. (If on 2nd St. heading north towards SPASH, go 5 blocks past Fourth Ave and take a left on Walker St., right side of a brick house at the end, 715-572-0515 for further directions)
Sunday, October 30th
7:00-9:30pm carving/chill time
9:30-10:00 judging of punkins and prizes
10:00-12:00 Army of Darkness
BYOP (I suggest buying one now, most people had trouble buying one the day of last year)

Weekly Update - more where that came from...
JOHN KOESHALL is a missionary to Europe and its universities. Before he went across the pond, however, John pioneered Chi Alpha all over this state, including here in Stevens Point, his alma mater. His passion is undeniable and heart for students unmatched in the eyes of this particular aspiring campus missionary. John will be here THIS SUNDAY, in the morning at First Assembly in Plover (700 Hoover Ave.), and we're trying to nail down a time for him to come and speak to us. We're hoping for Sunday night, but we may need to move to a special night to accommodate him. Stay tuned, you won't want to miss a night that could change your destiny.
Last night was one of the more exciting XA evenings I've been a part of in quite some time. The only reason it was as dynamic as it was is because of prayer. So...from 6.10-6.40 every Sunday night (giving the music kids time to practice, of course) we'll be doing PRE-XA PRAYER. Nothing happens without God doing it first. Hope to see you there! (We hope to get one night a week solely designed for prayer, too, but we still need to hammer out the details. Stay tuned.)
If you're interested in being more involved in a leadership capacity, we will be starting STUDENT LEADERSHIP MEETINGS in the near future. Let me know what times work best for you.
YOUTH CONVENTION/FALL RETREAT - 28-30 October, Green Bay. A ridiculously cheap $20 gets you lodging, a fun Security t-shirt, an opportunity to serve, a great time to build community within our XA and meet other Chi Alphans from around the state, an opportunity to see teens pursue Christ (and maybe join them a little bit) and promote XA to a ton of HS juniors and seniors. For at least one of you, XA presence at youth convention is the reason why you're here. Let's make this a trend.
Happy Monday!
